Prince Eléonore of Belgium (Eléonore Fabiola Victoria Anne Marie; born 16 April 2008) is the second daughter and youngest of four child of King Philippe of Belgium and his wife Queen Mathilde of Belgium. She is currently fourth in line to the succession to the Belgian throne after her older siblings, Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel and Prince Emmanuel.

Birth and christeningEdit

Princess Eléonore was born in 16 April 2008 at 4:50 at the Erasmus Hospital the teaching hospital of Université libre de Bruxelles in Anderlecht as the youngest daughter of the then Duke and Duchess of Brabrant. She is also the twelfth and youngest grandchild of King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium.

She was christened at the chapel of Ciergnon Castle in the Belgian Ardennes on 14 June 2008. His godparents were: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Claire of Belgium, and Count Sébastien von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg.[1]

She was christened as Eléonore Fabiola Victoria Anne Marie:[2]

  • Eléonore: a name his parents liked and goes with the theme El-/-el
  • Fabiola: in honour of her great-aunt, Queen Fabiola of Belgium
  • Victoria: in honour of her godmother, Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden
  • Anne: in honour of her maternal grandmother, Countess Anna Maria d'Udekem d'Acoz
  • Marie: after the Virgin Mary, as is customary with the Belgian Royal Family.


Princess Eléonore attends Sint-Jan Berchmans College in Brussels, the Dutch-language primary school. She also speaks French and English.

Princess Eléonore lives with her parents, her sister Elisabeth and her two brothers Gabriel and Emmanuel at the Royal Palace of Laeken.[3]

Princess Eléonore plays the violin and enjoys reading. She is creative and likes to draw. She likes to practice the following sports: cycling, swimming, skiing and sailing.[3]
